Going to London to see Carole Robb’s art exhibition meant a chance to see Isa for the day in Brighton. The last time I saw her, we met in London at the Tate.
Through Isa’s support, and others in the Vienna group — Sandra Santos, Antonella, Judit, Dieter and Louise, I started painting again. Through their support, I finished revising my novel, Finding Moksha: One Woman’s Path in Uncertain Times.
Isa Levy wrote Conversations with a Blank Canvas. She published it during the pandemic as many of us sought out meaning and purpose. Isa, like many creatives has many talents as an actress, singer, painter, and currently poet and art therapist. Isa showed me I could be more than the “safe corporate six figure job.” What Isa taught me was that I had options.
I met Isa through a group led by Austrian and Modern Elder Dieter Langenecker. We were guided by the principles of Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning. For almost two years the group of us met online.
Two years after the pandemic the group met in person in Vienna.
At the time I joined the group I was working a job that wasn’t feeding my soul and sought out something more while not knowing exactly what it was. This group, Isa in particular brought painting back to me. With painting back in my life it was like breathing a long exhale, breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
In October of 2024, I went to London between art exhibitions to meet Isa and another friend, Hilda who was visiting family in the UK from her current home in Australia. I was between art exhibitions being held in Paris and London.
Fast forward to May 2025 after deciding within weeks of attending Carole Robb’s painting exhibition, I texted Isa on WhatsApp. We arranged to meet in Brighton in her new home. She took me to her favorite places; we met for a late lunch and decadent desserts. We caught up the way friends do, leaving off from the last time.
